The Customs and Excise department got a re-up of their mask supply yesterday when they received a second pandemic donation of 5,000 masks from The Taiwanese Embassy.
The masks are geared toward assisting in protecting the frontline customs officers while they carry out their duties at the borders and the Philip Goldson International Airport.
BAPCOL Could Light A Quarter Of Belize

They're the power producer you maybe never heard about - but the Blair Athol Power Company Limited (BAPCOL) - which is a Bowen and Bowen owned company on the Placencia Road - can provide about 25% of Belize's total power consumption.
The company says that one of its engines, "which are drivers for the generators, recently underwent a complete overhaul." Now, these things are not usually news, but a release from the company calls it a "sizeable undertaking that involves cleaning and refurbishing engine parts, including eighteen cylinder heads that weigh one ton each."
The plant was originally the power source for the Belize Aquaculture Ltd Shrimp Farm.
BAPCOL serves as a power producer and hot standby plant for BEL and is often called upon to "black-start" or jump-start the national grid if there is a total system collapse. A release says, "It also helps stabilize conditions, ensures a reliable and secure national grid for Belizeans, and minimizes power outages in the south."
