The price of gas - it's not just high; with diesel at almost $11.50 per gallon, it's crushing the transport and productive sectors.

Minister of Agriculture Jose Mai should be acutely aware of it - since fuel is a vital input for agro products - and the higher the cost of gas, the higher the cost of production trimming the farmers' profit margins to the bone.

And, because the PUP complained so long and hard about high fuel prices under the Barrow Administration - they can't now be bawling about high world oil prices - because, regular folks don't want excuses, they want relief at the pump.

But it it coming? Or is there just going to be more glib platitudes form Cabinet? Jose Mai told us today that government is working on some kind of top secret pump pain palliative:

Hon. Jose Mai - Minister of Agriculture
"That matter has been raised in cabinet. I cannot give you the details, but we do have something in mind to address the high price of fuel that is, but that is in the prime minister's hands. He is the minister of finance, but we have discussed it, it has been mentioned, but when the time is right, you will know exactly what it is. But yes, it is something that is being planned to address the high cost of fuel."

Courtney Menzies
"Any timeline for that, because right now people are still, you know, suffering?"

Hon. Jose Mai
"I do not have a timeline, but I'm certain that the prime minister has. I don't have."
