For many years, regional travel in Central America could be a challenge - but now with carriers like Copa, TAG, and Avianca, it's become simpler. Tropic Air is crashing that party with flights to Roatan, San Pedro Sula, Flores and now San Salvador.
This new flight was inaugurated today just before it had lift off for its charter flight at the airport and Courtney Menzies was at the ceremony. Here is that story.
Today the first flight from Belize to El Salvador took off - and with it the first passengers to fly directly into the neighboring country via Tropic. It's a huge milestone for Tropic Air and, of course, the tourism industry.

At the flight's inaugural ceremony today, both Tropic Air's Director of Operations and the Minister of Tourism spoke about the impact this new flight will have on Belize.
Ravei Nunez, Director of Operations
"With this flight, tropic air is now flying into four of our neighboring countries, offering connections that bring value to our business, family, and vacation travelers. San Salvador now begins another gateway to Belize."

Hon. Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism
"This is another step in the right direction for an industry that has been hammered over the past two years from COVID. I have continuously said that heads in beds are dependent on air routes and we have to build traffic through the borders but air traffic into Belize is critical and it's the lifeblood of the tourism industry for us."
"We will continue to focus on building air routes into our country and having more people come to the destination, that is the only way we can improve the quality of living for our people and growing our GDP and having people meaningfully participate in the industry."
The flight to San Salvador takes about an hour.
