The many hundreds or thousands of customers of the former Scotiabank - now Belize Bank Corporation Limited - are taking a weekend off from banking as BBCL transitions to the Belize Bank - making the merger of the two banks which started in 2020 now complete. On Tuesday, they will all be customers of the Belize Bank Limited, likely now the largest single banking entity in Belize.

A release from the Central Bank of Belize says that effective 1 March 2022, BBCL will cease to exist. So, any cheques written on BBCL check leaves will be honored by the Belize Bank Limited for a period of six months, ending 29th August 2022.
