And you heard the mayor talk once again about his unfinished business in the city.

But he also discussed the pressures of keeping up with the council's recurrent commitments which are heavy - with hundreds of staffers and a weekly sanitation contract that's in the tens of thousands of dollars.

He discussed those today:

Bernard Wagner, Mayor, Belize City
"Ensuring that our salaries for our staff are being met every two weeks and it's a huge - people think this job is easy you know, because it's a huge payroll you must you must meet on a on a on a biweekly basis it's over 300 [thousand] plus dollars you must meet every two weeks add that link that in with the with our waste control obligation, another - so it's not an easy job but we have a plan we've always had a plan COVID kind of disrupted the plan and we are just now back where we want to be."

"Earlier when we started the fiscal year we ensured that we were able to put away some money for savings to meet the slow season and so we are in the slow season right now but we continue to do all the work that a city must do."
