And the media also asked CEO Tesucum about the process to bring 5G to Belize. 4G LTE was launched in 2016 - but that is no longer the global standard. He explained that they are working on 5G by ensuring that they have the proper infrastructure.

Ivan Tesucum, CEO, Digi

"In terms of infrastructure, all networks, or at least our network that we can say already that the equipment is coming, it's always 5G ready. So we've continued to upgrade our software and that comes with that as well so for us, we do have to go through the process of application for the spectrum but overall in terms of a network, we will be ready when and if the time comes for us to do that. Of course it's an investment, and as we always said Digi is the leader in the technology space, we will remain the leader in the technology space, and certainly you will hear from us in the coming future as well about 5G."

"The way how technology works is that it's called backward compatible so it allows for all technology, so you have 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G so if you have a phone that's only 4G, it goes 4G, 3G, 2G, when you have a 5G phone, it will be 5G, 4G, 3G, 2G so all of them has a fallback capability so you're always connected, you will not lose connectivity."
