Which stores price gouging and not observing price controls? In this age of inflation, that's what everyone wants to know.

Well, tonight we have some clues. The Supplies Control Unit completed the first round of inspections between September 1st to November 3rd which led them to discover that 59 out of 112 retail outlets they inspected were found to have violated a number of the new Supplies Control regulations. These establishments were ticketed in compliance with the law and to properly name and shame them, the full list of violators was released today.

Notably, the Belize District had the most violators - and grocery stores in the Cayes had the most be far - especially considering the small population. Price gouging is known to be widespread in the islands and the inspections proved it.

The second round of inspections commenced on November 4th and will end in mid January where a second list of violating stores will be released.
