And while there may well be some dispute over those terms of reference when they are finalized. But, for now at least, the BSCFA members are delivering their cane to the factory. They have been doing so since last night - but only in very small numbers since most of the farmers were waiting for the commercial agreement to be signed before they burned their cane.
We spoke to member of the BSCFA Committee of Management Fred Ortega who said it will take some time for members to pick up the pace:
Alfredo Ortega, BSCFA Committee of Management

"We started last night on which well as you know many farmers were not prepared because they were supporting us in the movement so many of them were not prepared with their cane to deliver last night so our delivery was very low for last night. Only those that prepared themselves ahead of time thinking that things could have come out good they were the ones that had cane already in their cane truck but those that were following the movement but maybe by today things will start to keep up and in the days after because. There were many farmers that did not prepare their vehicles also so they are now doing so like myself."
"The information received from BSI lab is that the quality is very low very very low. We do not have a good quality at this point in time so we believe that now that BSCFA will start to deliver. Maybe the quality might go up because then the mail should be mailing in its capacity. one of the problems is that the mail was not in full capacity, so there was a slow moment in regards to the process and we believe that that is one of the situations in regards to having the type of quality that is being demonstrated so we believe that once all of us start to deliver, that should be a change, but in the meantime, as we speak, the quality is very inferior very very low."
