Yesterday, you heard the harrowing account of a 14-year-old girl who was raped by four men on her way home. She expressed her discontent with the way the police were handling the case, saying that she felt they were not acting with urgency.

Today, we asked the Commissioner about the case, and he clarified that the officers have indeed found crucial evidence and have detained several men since the report was made.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I had responded to your post on your Facebook page and the information you share that was given to you was not accurate per se. the police officers did give the report the urgency it needed. The young lady was immediately taken for medical treatment, to be examined, that was done, the police officers visited the area, found where the incident actually occurred, valuable evidence was found there, those were taken, collected as evidence, and shortly thereafter police detained three of the young men who did this act and they are in custody awaiting to be charged so I think the issue may be the police need to do more in terms of giving feedback to complainants, perhaps they felt that nothing was being done because the police was not giving feedback so that is something that has to be addressed internally."
