Yesterday we told you that Hofius Limited would be closing its doors after 131 years of service. The managing director, Jacklyn Roe, told us that it was a difficult decision to make.
Though she chose to speak off camera, she explained that Hofius footprint in the downtown area began as the premier hardware store and that endured throughout the decades. For most of that time - fifty years to be exact - Hofius was managed by Roe's father, John Crump.
But she attributed a lot of Hofius' success to the staff, whom she says are the backbone of the business. She told us that while the news was somber, the staff still works as a team and are looking forward to their next stages.
And if you're one of the loyal customers, you can look forward to a sale, starting Monday, where every item in the store will be discounted by 20%. That will continue for as long as supplies last, and by around mid-2024, Hofius will be no more.
