Tourist arrivals were down by 7.3% in May. And while June's numbers haven't been published yet, the Minister of Tourism says that at mid-year - the arrival numbers for 2025 remain more or less even with last year - when tourism reached a record breaking high.

Anthony Mahler sent our newsroom a text message today to say that the total number of arrivals between January and June, 2024 was 316,500, while the same period this year shows that there were 316,970 visitors, making this year virtually even with last.

Across the Caribbean, overnight arrivals are forecast to increase this year, but only moderately. The Caribbean Tourism Organization says that "the pace is slower than earlier forecasts due to economic uncertainties in major source markets." For Belize, more than two thirds of its overnight visitors are from the US.
