So what then becomes of Shyne Barrow? He's the interim leader now, but since he was not elected, he cannot offer himself as leader in a convention. In fact, it's likely that Panton will not be challenged since none of the other four elected representatives have expressed a desire to be leader.
And according to Peyrefitte, Barrow may actually be stepping back from his claim to the throne without a fight.
Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"If you were to read the UDP constitution, at worst, at worst, he's a past leader, isn't he? But he is treated as interim leader, on the agreement that we have. But as a past leader, as a leader of the UDP, he is for life a member of the national convention."
"So he will have a vote anyway. So Lee Mark never had any UDP delegates. Those delegates were from Mesopotamia, those delegates remain in place. But Lee Mark will remain a member of the house, not challenged, not subject to any convention. And that's a huge concession on Shyne's part, saying, look, I accept that Lee Mark is the member of the house for the UDP for Mesopotamia. No challenges to him. Lee Mark will have full rights under the UDP after July 12th."

"And then he will then be able to take part in the national convention on October 5th. And after October 5th, then Lee Mark can put his stamp on Mesopotamia anyway he sees it."
We'll be at the NPC on July 12th to let you know how it goes. At least 3 recent NPC meetings have had to be aborted due to disorderly behavior.
