The government shutdown in the United States - now heading into its 37th day - is now causing flight cuts. US news outlets report that transportation officials' plan to slash traffic by 10 percent at 40 major airports. So will it affect Belize as we are heading into the high season? The beaches are free of sargassum but…will visitors be able to get here?
Today, via text the tourism Minister told us that despite a few bad months - so far, 2025's tourism figures are just about even with 2024.
He says his Ministry is in communication with the airlines and so far United has stated that international flights will not be affected.
He says, quote,"Its a tightrope but we are adjusting strategies constantly."
