Mahler credits these promising figures to the volume of marketing that they pumped into the industry with support from other tourism associations as well. It's a group effort that they recognize is important for the well being of the industry even if that means seeking advice from the opposition.
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism
"Well just focused marketing, focusing on airlift, focusing on trying to improve the visitor experience, with training and all of those things, getting Belize's name out there on the international stage at every possible moment. We are out there, we are out there, including the private sector. I must say that we had a tremendous partnership with private sector both BTIA, BHA all the other associations throughout the country. We have worked well, we have planned with them and we are going through a new exercise right now to look for some new marketing agencies and they are going to be a part of that decision process. I have also asked the director of tourism to reach out to the opposition to be a part of that process from day 1. So they are going to be in the room to make recommendations and I know the leader of the opposition has a tremendous wealth of experience in tourism and so that can only help."
