If you filled up your tank with Premium gas over the last couple of days because it was cheaper than Regular gas, count yourself lucky. That brief, bizarre price break is officially over.
At midnight tonight, Premium fuel is shooting back up by 93 cents - landing at a painful fifteen dollars and forty-six cents per gallon in the city. It wraps up a strange week at the pumps. On Wednesday, a massive one-dollar-and-thirty-two-cent spike in Regular-combined with an eight-cent drop in Premium-actually made the higher-grade fuel 30 cents cheaper than Regular.
As a consequence, drivers got a temporary upgrade on a discount, but as of midnight, the status quo is back. Premium will once again wear the crown, sitting at 63 cents more expensive than Regular.
And, bringing even more pain to regular folks is this sign we saw posted today - which says that the dollar vans - which had already increased their fares to two dollars is now increasing to three dollars.
