Though Friesen has confirmed that there is no local spread in country she still urges the public to get vaccinated, reminding the public that exposure can happen at any time, from completely unexpected sources:
Dr Laura Friesen, Acting Dep Director of Public Health and Wellness
"Our vaccination programs including the measles vaccine have been working for years we haven't always achieved our ideal vaccination rates which would be over 95 for example especially around covid we did have a small dip because you know there was logistical issues as well however for example last year in 2025 in the whole country we had a vaccination rate for the MMR2 of 91% so that means that we are, we are covering a large majority of our children that are vulnerable however we would encourage anybody in the community that has children over the age of one that are not vaccinated for them to please come in and get them vaccinated to reduce their risk of getting sick."
