While Belize City is no doubt the country's epicenter for crime, the Cayo District is making a name for itself. Today, an unlikely group of bandidos from the Mennonite Community who seemed to have been planning something big were detained by police. On Wednesday August 5th, at about 5:00 a.m., police conducted a search on a home in the Barton Creek area and discovered a trove of high-powered firearms and ammunition. Among them was one Uzi brand tech 9mm., one.38 special, one.22 pistol, one 16 gauge shotgun, and 400 live rounds of ammunition. Also discovered at the home were several masks, several camouflage police uniforms and a genuine police shirt. What they were planning for is anyone's guest but police have detained two males and five females pending a thorough investigation.
