A man and a 5 year old child are hospitalized after being involved in a traffic accident around mile 20 on the Western Highway. At around 2:20 this afternoon, a black two door Nissan that was traveling towards Belmopan collided with a Novelo's charter bus full of tourists that was traveling in the opposite direction. We were on the scene shortly after the accident and spoke to a still shaken Modesto Lizarraga who was driving the bus.:

I was coming from this side and, em, I saw this car run in to my side, right, so I did all I could do to try to avoid this accident. I try to cut this way. When the car run into me I just try carry on the same way.

Nobody, nobody get hurt.
Sandro Ayala, the driver of the car, and a 5 year old child were transported to the KHMH where they are receiving treatment for injuries they sustained as a result of the accident. While Lizarraga was driving one of the buses, the other bus seen on the footage was not involved in this accident. That bus ended up on the side of the road after trying to avoid collision with a pickup truck earlier on in the day.
