A 76-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting and imprisoning 2 girls should have had his day in the high court today. John Majarrez - sensationally accused of buying two children as sex slaves - was to have been tried in the Supreme Court today. But now his case is heading back to the Magistrate's Court.
In 2002, Majarrez was arrested for the indecent assault, carnal knowledge, and imprisonment of two girls, aged 10 and 13. Today the case was sent back after prosecutors dropped the two counts of unlawful carnal knowledge. The charges of false imprisonment and indecent assault stand.
But 7 News understands the two girls have since left the country and are in Salvador. 76-year-old Majarrez was arraigned way back on May 3, 2002. The girls' mother Norma Moz was also originally charged with abetment to carnal knowledge and procuration. Those charges were later dropped.
