The mother of Kareem "Matty" Swazo is furious and tonight demanding answers after prosecutors bungled the murder case and allowed his two accused murderers to walk free.

As we first reported last night, magistrate Margaret Gabb-Mckenzie threw out the case against 26-year-old Jerry Bush and 25-year-old Terrence Bailey after prosecutors showed up to court without the case file.

DPP Kirk Anderson today vowed to re-file the charges but the two accused murderers are free this evening. And for Matty's mom Karen Adolphus it has re-opened the wounds from May of 2003 when her son was gunned down at high noon at the corner of Allenby Street and Amara Avenue. 23-year-old Matty was killed and his friend Calbert Budd Jr. barely survived.

This unexpected turn in the case couldn't have come at worst time for Matty's mother. 42-year-old Adolphus is a student at St. John's Extension and exams began today. She is emotional, and sad, but more than anything she's just plain angry and wants answers from the DPP's office.

"I want to tell the prosecutor that they are careless. They are being paid to do their job and they showed up at court every month with the case file. How can they do that when they are trying to solve my son's murder so I want an answer from them."

"It's sad but what can I do. (Sobbing) It hurts to know that my son life is going just like that like he was worth nothing. I can't fight them cause I have no gun but I will fight them with the father. I don't know who killed my son because I wasn't there but whoever killed my son I want them to know how much they tore me apart when they took my son's life-it's like they took mine too."

Again, the DPP's office has said it will re-file the charges against the two accused and they should be re-arrested shortly.
