Teenage Girl Murdered In Corozal

In Corozal, police are trying to piece together the circumstances that led to the grisly murder of a 16-year-old student of Corozal Community College.

Sometime around 3 this afternoon police visited an area near Libertad Village where they found the body of 16-year-old villager Elia Gonzalez. Both her hands had been tied behind her back, and preliminary indications are that she was raped and then strangled to death.

Her parents reported her missing on Tuesday night after she did not arrive from school. A Search was launched today and police came upon the body on a feeder road that school children often use to walk home.
