Fake cocaine, on the streets it's called "WAC" - and on those same streets those pushing it can wind up getting "got" - as police say the circulation of it has cost more than a few lives.
And that's why two Orange Walk residents are probably lucky to be in trouble with the law and not serious Mexican "narcotraficantes."
Yesterday police raided the Orange Walk town home of Manuel Pelayo Jr. where they say they found 3,540 grams or just over 3 kilos of what appeared to be cocaine. 29-year-old Pelayo was arrested along with 27-year-old Alfonso Aviles who was in the house at the time. But when police checked out the product it turned out to be not cocaine, just a white powdery substance - complete with compressed, Colombian grade packaging.
Police haven't told us what charges will now be brought against the pair.
