Justice was delayed but it wasn't denied for 23-year-old Leroy Pilgrim who was shot to death by San Pedro police six weeks ago.

Police constable 20-year-old Burton Caliz was today charged with manslaughter. At the time of the shooting, witnesses told 7NEWS that Pilgrim was dragged to a secluded area and executed by the police officer. The police's version was that it was during a struggle that Caliz's gun went off by accident. Because of that police chose to charge him with manslaughter and not murder. In court today, Caliz was granted 8 thousand dollars bail on that charge. He re-appears in court on May 12th 2004. He remains under interdiction up to late this evening he had still not met bail.
