Over the past few weeks, the PSE has caused many sleepless nights, and created endless anxiety for the thousands of students who took the test - and all that disquiet has been made worse because the test is stretched over 2 days.
This morning 5,971 students sat down for day one comprising the English and Science sections. And though they only got through one half of the exam- you could hear and see the sigh of relief as students filed out of the examination rooms. We polled a few as they told us how it was.
Student #1,
"For me it was easy because all the things we learnt was on it. We had weekend classes and some night classes so I was prepared. I think I passed."
Student #2,
"When I got in there I was kind of nervous but once I saw the exam I realized I knew most of the things that we done review, I wasn't nervous."
Student #3,
"Part of it was easy easy but the last part was very difficult. The science was difficult but I still think I passed."
Student #4,
"It was kind of hard but still kind of easy. I hope I passed."
Part 2 of the exam which is mathematics and social studies will be held on May 3rd. The Ministry of Education says if you signed up for and missed today's part 1, you will still be allowed to sit part two in May. Fewer students will sit the exam this year than did last year.
