Police Shoot Mental Patient

He is a 70-year-old mental patient, carrying a knife, but police say Fidencio Requena posed so much of a physical threat they had to shoot him.

A patrol team was responding to a disturbance in the Trapiche housing area of Santa Elena when they claim Requena came after them with a knife. Police say they fired a warning shot and when he didn't stop one of the officers shot him in the ankle, Requena has been treated for his injuries and police say they have launched an investigation to see if the use of force was justified.
