Our next story started off as a simple misunderstanding between two girls, one 21 and the other only 14, and the spat was about of all things: free toys that were being given away.
But that simple disagreement led to something far more serious and tonight a young mother is short of a finger, in a lot of pain, and what's worse is that she may never again be able to earn a living from braiding hair.
Celia James was attacked near her Freetown Road home on Wednesday night when she claims a 14-year-old female, charged at her with a machete. She lived to tell the tale but one of her fingers was severed and she is clinging on to hope that the others will heal. Celia told her story to Keith Swift today though she asked to appear off camera. She says there was no way she could have anticipated the machete attack.

"I didn't really expect that she was going to go for a machete and come after me. It was getting dark and so I didn't even see her come out with the machete. The only I can say for sure is that I see was when she was coming down with the thing in my face and blocked it with my hand. The second time she was coming towards me for family held me back and she still was coming and so I turned and that's when she cut the side of my face with the machete. And this thing was caused over toys and other things which they were giving away at the park."
Keith Swift,
"Celia, most people at home would wonder why this girl would chop you over toys?"
Celia James,
"Why I said it is about the toys is because I went to ask her about the toys and she said why I told her cousin she was greedy over toys. I still don't understand why she did it though. It is like she wanted to do something like that."
Keith Swift,
"When most girls quarrel it would be over a man, but this is not over a man. This is "something as simple as toys?"
Celia James,
"Yes it is over toys. It is not over a man." [shaking head and blushing]
Keith Swift,
"You were injured on your face and hand, how are you doing?"
Celia James,
"I am still in pain so I need to go back to hospital and tell them I am in pain because at night time I cannot sleep or take care of child. I take care of my child and my hand still sick and it pains me. I don't even sleep and they didn't give me any pain medication at the hospital. They only gave me pills for like the infection so I need to go back and tell them I am always in pain."
Keith Swift,
"People were saying you lost a finger. You want to clear that up? Did you lose any fingers?"
Celia James,
"Well I lost, it would have been the whole four fingers. One came completely off and the other three I begged the doctor to please sew it up because I didn't want my whole four fingers to come off."
Keith Swift,
"How does it feel for you to know that you were injured for something which, I don't want to say it is stupid, but it's not even an issue."
Celia James,
[Hesitating] "I still don't really know why she went on like that because it is not like I went there to fight, or take tools or something like that, I just wanted to talk to her."
Police today charged the 14 year old with attempted murder, maim, and use of deadly means of harm.
