Dennis Hyde who was remanded to the central prison on a murder charge is tonight instead at the KHMH in a stable condition after he was attacked with a "bora" (Sharp object made in prison) on Friday evening inside the remand section of the prison.

As we first reported (Inmate critical after stabbing), chaos broke loose around 4 p.m. when Hyde was attacked with the 'bora' and received stabs to his abdomen, chest, right leg, and right arm. 7NEWS also understands that one of his lungs was punctured and tonight he is breathing through a chest tube. Kolbe officials believe fellow remand inmate Jeffrey Flowers was the assailant however police are still investigating.

Hyde is one of four men who were charged last month for the Belmopan 'Deja Vu' nightclub melee which ended in the murder of Alison Castillo. Hyde was charged along with his cousins Clifford and Russell Hyde for that nightclub killing. Up until Friday all three were in the remand section of the prison. However Russell Hyde through his attorney contacted 7NEWS today because Russell had been moved from the remand section to the max section at the prison. Russell Hyde, again through his attorney, maintained he had nothing to do with what Kolbe officials are calling an attempted hit on his cousin's life. There are about 200 inmates in the remand section of the central prison.
