Tonight, police still have not charged anyone for Thursday evening's accident on the Northern Highway which resulted in the death of a teenager. As we first reported on Friday, the victim, Dwayne Francis had just left his home on the Northern Highway and was heading to Belize City when he somehow collided into an Isuzu Trooper driven by senior city Traffic Warden Glen Rivero.
The official version from police is that Francis rode head on into the trooper causing the accident and his subsequent death. The teenager's family however says the evidence at the scene does not support that version. Glen Rivero has been suspended from his job at the Traffic Department pending the outcome of any criminal investigations. Up to news time though, police had yet to file any criminal charges.
Dwayne Francis who is a recent graduate of Gwen Lizarraga High School will be buried on Wednesday. This case is notable for its footnotes since Dwayne's mother works with the Police Department, the alleged perpetrator Glen Rivero is a Senior Traffic Warden, and his son Glen Rivero Jr. is a Corporal with the police department.
