This morning a fleet of spanking new beach cruisers, fresh off the assembly line, were handed over to the Community Nurses Aides in Southern Belize. "CNAS" as they are called are volunteers work in villages from Georgetown to Maya Mopan to Seine Bight and are there when doctors can't be to provide emergency primary healthcare to rural villagers. The fleet of new beach cruisers was handed over by Health Minister Vildo Marin who spoke of the important role the "CNAs" play.

Hon. Vildo Marin, Minister of Health
"You all community nurses' aide are the link between the health system and the community. You are the ones who are out there in the villages promoting health. Promoting our basic health care and you are the ones who are there supporting our nurses and supporting them in whatever you can do. "

"Sometimes you are even more than just a community nurses aide you become this psychologist of the village and you come to the point of becoming the doctor of the village. So my friends today I am here to tell you all how very important you are to this ministry and to tell you that we will be supporting you all in the fullest and the delivery of these bicycles is just but one token to make your work a little bit more easier."
