She had been missing since Thursday and yesterday police thought they found the badly decomposed body of 18 year old blue creek resident, Maria Penner in the Rio Bravo 4 miles north of the blue creek river dam. But today a post mortem is casting some doubt on that discovery. Maria Penner was said to be pregnant, but the police pathologist found no indication of that in the post mortem. Also, the pathologist could not determine if there was foul play because of the advanced state of decomposition.
In fact, a positive identification can still not be made, and the family is suggesting a cross reference with dental records. Also much has been made of the missing limbs as both hands are severed from the elbow, and both legs form the knee. The post mortem concluded that all physical evidence indicates that those limbs were bitten off by crocodiles in the river. And so while the results are inconclusive, Maria Penner's husband remains in police custody for questioning.
