Accused attempted rapist Steven Castillo finally had his day in court today and tonight is spending his first night in lockdown at the Hattieville prison. The 24 year old was back before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord where charges of attempted rape, aggravated burglary, and harm were read to him.
Castillo is charged with breaking into the home of his 19 year old victim through a window. He allegedly was attempting to tie the woman to her bed when she awoke and that's when he produced a knife which he inflicted some minor cuts on her with as she attempted to escape. That escape sent her onto the street where she flagged down a passing police mobile unit who responded to her yard and found a naked Castillo trying to hide.
As we first reported last night, Castillo was sent to the KHMH after Magistrate Lord noticed bruises and cuts on his face. He was back in court today and told Lord the police didn't do it. Instead, Castillo says he was attacked by fellow prisoners at the court lock-up who slapped, punched, and threw him against the cement walls of the cell. He wouldn't give Lord any details as to who or how many persons attacked him.
That may be the least of his problems though because Castillo was denied bail. His case was adjourned until November 18th.
