The man accused of killing police constable 956 Euwin Armstrong turned himself into police this afternoon. Few details are known at this time but what we can confirm is that this morning at 7:30, 26-year-old Earl Young, accompanied by a friend, turned himself into assistant commissioner of police Crispin Jeffries at the eastern division police station.
As we said, details are few but we do know that Earl Young also known as John Crawford was raised in Orange Walk and came to Belize City as a teenager. And it's now believed that he went back to Orange Walk, not Mexico, after the shooting. Young had previous arrests for robbery and attempted murder. He is being questioned, but has not been charged yet. Charges are expected to be brought tomorrow. Sources tell us that Young turned himself in after police had been in dialogue with his family in Orange Walk.
As has been widely reported, Young is the prime suspect in Friday night's shooting of Constable Armstrong that occurred on Central American Boulevard in front of the farmer's market.
