Drunken Driver Pleads Guilty in Court

Last night we reported on a drunken driver who drove unto a sidewalk and knocked down 4 children in Orange Walk Town on Sunday afternoon. Well, this afternoon police charged naturalized Belizean, 45-year-old Carlos Roberto Cruz. He was arraigned on charges of reckless driving, driving without due care and attention, driving with alcohol content above the prescribed limit, four counts of negligent wounding, four counts of failure to stop and render aid, failure to report a traffic accident and damage to property. He pleaded guilty to the minor charges, and was fined and released he will re-appear to hear the more serious offences on January 10th. None of the children he knocked won suffered critical injuries.
