Employees at BTL today helped to spread some Christmas cheer when they handed over some grocery hampers to needy families throughout the country. Over the past few weeks, the company's employees have been gathering non-perishable foods and collecting them to donate to needy persons. The company then matched their donations and today the groceries were handed out to those families who've been selected by the Human Development Department.
"We're trying to offer what we consider a small token of the company's appreciation. Its actually a staff initiative that we call 'Christmas in a can.' It's a small project in which each staff member of BTL countrywide offers a can per week for the past 4 weeks and we grouped everything together and the company matched our initiative. We have identified, with the help of Human Services Development, needy families countrywide to offer this. Today we only have 9 families and these families were the ones that were identified for Belize City. The other families countrywide, we have identified them as well but people from the branch offices will be delivering those boxes to them."
Each box holds $200 worth of groceries.
