A three-year-old child has died in Orange Walk Town and investigators are trying to ascertain how it is his life was ended so suddenly. On Monday 3 year old Axcel Castillo was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment after the mother reported that the child had an unusually high fever. He died hours later and a post mortem examination has shown that the baby boy had received some injuries to his abdomen that caused his death. That has turned a sudden death investigation into possible foul play as the examination showed that the child had been beaten to his midsection. Now Orange Walk police have detained the infant's 14-year-old uncle, who is also the mother's little brother, because they believe he inflicted the injuries. Investigators are trying to determine whether he did so intentionally or just through rough play. They may also bring charges against the mother because she knew that her little brother had caused the injuries but took the child in to the hospital on the pretext that he had a fever.
