We've been following the story of 26-year-old Delvoy Castillo since he was knocked down on the eighth of January. At first the prognosis was grim, and then mildly encouraging...but tonight it is dire. This evening we spoke to a family member who told us that the 16 year old was to have undergone a surgery yesterday to insert a feeding tube into his stomach but he is not strong enough to undergo the procedure. Tonight, doctors tell the family that they are ready to give up on the young man as there is now very little that can be done for him. With that he has been removed from the life support system that he had previously been on and is presently only on oxygen. But while doctors have diagnosed the young man's recovery as grim family members are still hoping that he somehow makes a recovery. Meanwhile police are yet to charge the man accused of knocking Delvoy down and then abandoning him in a car as they await the outcome of his medical treatment.
