It is a twisted case of sexual exploitation of a minor and tonight three people including the victim's mother are in jail for it. The mother is Maria Zepeda from Orange Walk and she has been charged for giving away her 12-year-old daughter to a 25-year-old man. Police say that the girl told them that since November 28th of last year she has been living and having sexual relations with Ernesto Magana and this was with the consent of her mother. The girl told investigators that her mother made the arrangement with the cane cutter and handed her over to him. The mother Maria Zepeda was today charged with abetment to commit carnal knowledge, the man Ernesto Magana was charged with carnal knowledge, and a third woman Catalina Jimenez was charged with permitting defilement of child on premises. Jimenez allegedly allowed Magana to live with the girl at his house. The 12-year-old victim in all this is now in custody of the Human Development Department.
