And while the hundreds of Chinese owned businesses were closed countrywide nowhere was the demonstration of solidarity with the murdered woman's family more poignant than Orange Walk Town. Today over 100 mourners participated in the funeral for slain restaurant owner, 26-year-old Susan Yue. The funeral was celebrated at La Immaculada Catholic Church in Orange Walk Town.
And while the funeral brought together a large section of the community, the most striking image came form the side of the Xun Yi Restaurant on Fonseca Street where the young mother was stabbed to death. Friends, relatives and funeral goers pasted a number of strongly worded, even militant signs on the side of the restaurant. They threaten the killer, and warn that: Fonseca Street will not become southside Belize City.
