He's an outspoken human rights advocate, a wily defense attorney, and from time to time, a temporary judge of the Supreme Court, but last night, Senior Counsel Simeon Sampson was just another victim of a violent home invasion.

Sampson told police he was sleeping in his Allenby Street home when around 3 am he was awakened to find a man on top of him. Sampson says he couldn't see his attacker, but he put a sharp object to his neck and tied him up with duct tape. He says he was threatened and the only communication he had with his attacker was when the assailant demanded the whereabouts of a stash of drugs that Sampson knew nothing about.

After he gave up on the drugs, the attacker fled with $100 in cash, Sampson's ATM card, and a bottle of whiskey from his bed head. Sometime later, Sampson is not sure how long after, he finally managed to free himself from the duct tape and he ran out onto the street where he flagged down a passing police mobile.

Sampson says he doesn't know how the person entered the house since there was no sign of forced entry.

A senior counsel since 1997, Simeon Sampson served a temporary judge on the Supreme Court until March of this year.
