Tonight two of the six prisoners who escaped from police custody Tuesday afternoon are still on the run.

Three of the escapees were re-captured last night and this afternoon a fourth prisoner, Carlton Lord Jr., was recaptured by Assistant Commissioner of Police

Crispin Jeffries Senior. He was found in an abandoned house on Plues Street. Lord is back behind bars tonight along with Allan Perdomo, Michael Faux, and Manuel Williams who were recaptured yesterday evening on the terrace of a two story private residence at the corner of Reggae Street and Kraal Road. 7NEWS was there as police closed in on the scene and brought them down.

That leaves Robert Hill and Edwin Vanegas still at large. Robert Hill we note should be a cause for concern because he was previously convicted of the murder of Becky Gilharry though that conviction was overturned on appeal. Hill though was serving 30 years for various robberies committed in the Orange Walk Area. His court appearance yesterday was on prohibited firearms possession charge. Edwin Vanegas, who is not a Belizean national, was charged along with fellow escapees Manuel Williams and Allan Perdomo for a robbery on Gabourel Lane back in August of 2004.

The 6 escapees were part of a group of 10 prisoners who were being transported back to the Hattieville Prison from a court appearance in the city. Around mile 2½ they attacked the driver, Special Constable Ewart Wade, to the head. They also pounced on Special Constable John Myvette hitting him to the left eye. 7 of the 10 prisoners on the bus escaped but Norris Leslie didn't get far. There were three prisoners who resisted the temptation to make a run.
