He was shot last night and with bullet wounds to his leg and wrist he hid the entire night in crocodile infested swamp, at 6 am he made it to the emergency room and by mid-day he checked himself out of the hospital so he could make it in time to class. 25-year-old Angel Dorado's truth may sound stranger than fiction but last night he was ambushed by gunfire as he rode to his home at mile 8. It is a story you have to hear to believe and today Dorado, the shooting victim, was back in class undergoing training to become a tour guide. We met him outside of class this afternoon and Dorado told us that even though he is trying to reform his past may have caught up to him.

Angel Dorado, Shooting Victim
"I was riding on the Western Highway and I notice a vehicle just spin around on the highway so I tried to hide in the bush and then the vehicle came back. I came out of the bush and when I saw the vehicle came back I was looking to go into the next side of the bush but before I got there somebody just started shooting after me so I just dropped my bike and run. There were 5 shots and 2 caught me. One caught me in my finger and one caught me on my leg. They didn't find any shells on the scene and they only got off 5 shots so I ran to the bush. This morning I came out of the bush and I went to look for help at the six miles bridge from one of my home boys and they called my old lady and then the police came."

Jules Vasquez,
How long did you stay in the bush?

Angel Dorado,
"I stayed from about midnight to 6 in the morning because I didn't trust to go out there back. I was in the mangrove swamp because you know I didn't know if anyone else was out there. It has to happen to you for you to know. I know God is with me because it is not the first time but they won't get a chance like that again. I am saying I am trying to do something with my life but the minute you hang up your glove, they will try come after you so I don't think I am ready to hang up my glove but I am trying to make a change. I can't pout up that glove."

Dorado graduates from tour guide training tomorrow.
