How could one man rape three teenaged females in the same room at around the same time? That's what Cayo crimes investigators have been asking since August 1st when three British students ages 15, 16 and 17 alleged that they had been raped by a local tour guide.

The young women were staying at a lodge in Georgeville Village, just outside of San Ignacio. They were part of a contingent of British high school volunteers staying at the lodge. Investigations show that on the night of Sunday July 31st., the tour guide went to a room in the lodge where 5 young women all British were gathered. He appeared to have been invited there, and reportedly carried a bottle of Parrot rum and a Sprite.

Once inside they started to play games including spin the bottle of truth or dare. One thing led to another...and the next day police received a complaint form three of the young women that he had raped them. Since then, police have been looking for this tour guide, but according to Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid, he may have absconded to Guatemala. Reid also confirmed that investigators have their doubts about the teenagers' charges - if only because of the practical impossibility of their claim.

Thought it was never reported to the Belize media by Reid's office, the story has attracted a deluge of international media attention, mostly from the British press, where every major news outlet has picked up the story.
