Police have questioned four Immigration Department employees and one supervisor of the Passport Department has been removed from her post and transferred to another. Those measures continue to indicate that it was inside work which led to the theft of 200 passports sometime over the weekend.
What still has police puzzled is the fact that at the building itself shows no signs of having been broken into but the passport processing office has been made to seem as if it was broken into. Police, however, believe it was set up to seem that way. What's most disturbing is the information that 7NEWS has learnt concerning the manner in which blank passports were stored. The room itself was flimsily secured, and the passports were not locked up in any cabinet or safe, but just left out in the open in two boxes.
Police have spoken to Director of Immigration and former Commissioner Carmen Zetina who controls one of the sets of keys to the building.
