It never made this or any other newscast but last week, a man was very seriously injured when he was knocked off a bicycle he was riding on Central American Boulevard.
On Wednesday September 21st at around 4 in the afternoon, 33-year-old Mark Bermudez was riding his bicycle on Central American Boulevard when he was run over by a car. Now Bermudez is at the KHMH barely clinging to life and his family is angry because it is being treated as if it never happened.
Sister,
"My biggest concern is that he is here at the KHMH from the 21st and having realized that no media houses have been notified, that is my biggest concern and nobody has been arrested or charged for this incident so I don't know what is happening with the policemen or the person doing the investigation. I want to know what the policemen are doing, how come the media houses have no knowledge of this incident from the 21st up to this present moment."

"He sustained some very serious injuries to both the chest and abdominal areas. He has intervened twice surgically and at this point his prognosis is quite uncertain. So that in a nutshell is what we have with Mr. Bermudez."

Does he have any injuries to the head?
Dr. Fernando Cuellar,
"Yes he did sustain mild head injuries however that is not the primary injuries he has sustained since he came in. Specifically we went into Mr. Bermudez's chest and the most damaging injury he had was his abdominal injury or the multiple organ damage: kidney, liver, and so forth. We have him in an intensive care setting and he is being ventilated, he is getting appropriate antibiotics and painkillers, his fluids are being monitored closely, but it does warrant concern at this point."
Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid today told us that the file has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions. He did say that it appears that when Bermudez was riding his bicycle on Central American Boulevard near Belize Traders, he tried to squeeze his way between a parked vehicle and oncoming traffic. That is when he was knocked down by Charles James who has been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
