On Sunday morning, a patient jumped to his death from the surgical ward on the second floor of the KHMH. Around 6 that morning the nurse on duty at the surgical ward told them that 57-year-old Chinese national Yu Ying Hsieh also known as Michael committed suicide.
According to others in the ward, he climbed onto his bed and then onto the ledge of one of the ward's windows. He then told another patient in the ward that he was going to jump. He did and fell two stories down to his death.
Michael was at the KHMH receiving treatment for cancer-related complications. He was not known to have any fixed address.
