This afternoon police officers allegedly shot and killed a burglary suspect inside a home in the Los Lagos Community. Specific details about the fatal shooting are hard to come by but we do know that as we went to air the body of the still unidentified male suspect was still inside the house which is number 37 Los Lagos. Our 7NEWS team is just back from the scene and Keith Swift spoke to a neighbor who lives opposite the shooting scene. She told him that she was awakened at 3 this afternoon when police confronted the suspect who had barricaded himself inside the bungalow house.

Area Resident,
"When I got up this afternoon I just heard the police holler and told the boy to come out with his hands up but nothing happened so I saw that they started to stomp on the door. After they stomped on the door a young man who was cleaning the yard brought a stick for them to open the door and also a key but the key only opened one lock on the door. So then they apparently got into the house and I just heard shots started to let go. I don't know if it was from the police or if it was from the boy but I just heard the shots. But first one of the police shot through the window of the house and I just saw one of the police come out and made a sign by his neck to show that the boy was already dead.

One of them hollered that two of them were in the house and from then they started to go back in the house to see if someone else was in there but they didn't find any one else. I asked the police if the other boy was in there but the police said yes. But then I asked a police who I know if they found the other boy and the police told me that only one boy was in the house and that he is dead."

The owner of the house is reportedly in the United States and it was being taken care of by a family member. Again the story as far as we know it is that police shot and killed a burglary suspect this afternoon in the Los Lagos Community. The burglar was seen in the house by yard cleaners and when police responded the suspect barricaded himself inside the house. Police eventually kicked in a door and after a confrontation the burglar was shot and killed. Police haven't released his identity and they aren't saying if he was armed. 7NEWS was the first on this major story and our news team continues to monitor it. We'll have a full report in tomorrow nights' newscast.
