In early March of last year 27-year-old Mark "Parks" Tingling died after he was shot in the chest with a pen gun on Neal's Pen Road. The man accused of the murder is 23-year-old Richard White and his trial concluded today.
After about four hours of deliberation a jury of 8 women and four men found white not guilty of murder. They were then instructed by the trial judge to deliberate on the charge of manslaughter. But the members of the jury could not agree on that charge, so it was a hung jury. With that White was clear of all charges, at least for the time being. Justice Troadio Gonzalez told him that he's free to go, but can be re-arrested at any time and charged with manslaughter.
Prosecutor Kamar Henry had tried to establish that although White was not the shooter, he was with the person who did, and he did accost the deceased.
White, who has been on remand for murder, can now join his family to grieve the death of his father, Eugene "Witch" White, who was killed three weeks ago for no reason when a gunman went on a still unexplained shooting spree.
