Cayo police made a major marijuana bust last night. Around 8:00, police set up a checkpoint on the Bullet Tree Road and intercepted a Chevy Nova with Cayo license plates. The car barreled through the checkpoint, and police set chase. Probably realizing that they weren't in a Chevy Corvette, the drivers crashed the car into the bushes and ditched it. When police got to the car, the driver and passenger had bailed, but they left behind their precious cargo. Police found a sack with 45.45 kilos of marijuana, exactly 100 pounds. According to our sources, the street value of a pound of marijuana is currently about $200, which means this catch had a value of about $20,000.
