Belize City police arrested a man shortly after he fired several shots at an unknown person. At around 10 on Friday night police responded to the shooting near the intersection of Cemetery Road and Central American Boulevard where they saw a gray Honda Accord with three occupants speeding off. They set chase and intercepted the vehicle on Mahogany Street. The driver of the vehicle scampered out and tried to make a getaway, but police caught him as he tried to scale a nearby fence. They searched him and found a 38 revolver with 14 live rounds for the weapon.
The man with the gun has since been identified as 41-year-old Michael Neal. He's been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition discharging a firearm in public and committing a mischievous act after he gave police a bogus name when he was detained. Police are also looking for another shooter as they believe there was an exchange of gunfire between those inside the car and those who were being shot at.
