A young pregnant woman who was injured in a traffic accident more than a month ago is dead. We first told you about Lydia Rodriquez on February 24th when we met her in the hospital on life support. Her family says that the expectant mother hitchhiked a ride from her home in Guinea Grass Village to Orange Walk to buy baby clothes. She never made it and before even leaving the village she was violently flung from the bed of the pickup. Her baby was successfully delivered but Lydia was only holding on by a life support machine. She lost that fight at around 8:30 on Sunday night. Her family says her last request was to give her new daughter her name, Lydia. Funeral arrangements are scheduled for tomorrow in Guinea Grass. Police have yet to charge anyone or even identify the driver of the pickup.
